Zambia Satellite Signalling Locomotive Satellite Unit
The satellite units communicates directly to the satellite every 10 minutes reporting the GPS position, direction and speed.
A geo-fence can be set up to warn the dispatcher when the train nears the end of a valid warrant.
The base station consist of four standard PCs with graphic displays. Two are used to display and issuing of warrants on the Northen and Southern sections. One PC is used as standby and the forth for a display of the supervisor.
The graphic screen displays the real time position of the locomotives. If no report was received for more than 30 minutes, the dispatcher is warned that there may be a problem with the locomotive.
